Rush Limbaugh's Probation Almost Over

Rush Limbaugh is in his final month of probation. When the month is up, the charge of doctor shopping will be dismissed without his ever having had to enter a plea. He will have a clean record.

According to records, he'll have made an estimated $50 million while on conditional liberty.

"All's well that ends well," he said, contemplating the Oct. 31 finish of his 18-month probation, barring unforeseen trouble. "The system is what it is," Limbaugh, 56, said from his oceanfront compound in Palm Beach. "I became addicted to drugs because of a medical condition" - a bad back - "and I'm convinced now that most addicts come to a point where they do drugs just to stave off withdrawal.

According to court documents, investigators alleged Rush obtained 2,000 pills over a five month period. What a great job his lawyer, Roy Black, did for him. I'm sure it cost him a pretty penny but I hope he appreciates it.

smug Teflon Rush gets to slap other people upside the head. He never pays the penalty for being guilty as charged. Much like the guy in the White House.

The Drug War is evil even if Rush is stupid.

I think liberals ought to speak out on this even if Rush doesn't support an end to prohibition.

Doing the right thing even if there is no political gain amasses moral authority.

Ending the Drug War is way more important than beating Rush. Don't do it for him. Do it for all the brothers in prison.

Sadly I don't have a Party any more so I am left with my positions.

BTW let me congratulate you on taking the moral position in the Duke case. Right is right and wrong is wrong. Kudos.

Just to keep the record straight for those who don't know me: I'm a Joe Lieberman Democrat. I suppose liberal Republican would be a little closer to the mark. However, I'd love to support Joe for the Presidency. Unfortunately that doesn't seem to be an option.

Very publicly and maliciously stupid when you're in a position to help bring some sanity to the situation is quite another.
Justice should've dictated that that sack of waste material, at the very least, did a hundred hours of community service amongst the "lazy and shiftless" in the hood.

that contingent fees are unethical in criminal cases.

If one were to take a standard continent fee of 1/3 (or even 1/5, for verey large sums) on the amount Rush managed to make while getting the benefit of the good deal his lawyer got for him, his lawyer could retire to a private island. So, even if his counsel charged him a huge fee - say $1 Mil - for what was to all appearances a pretty straight-forward case of an addict getting huge amounts of scrips, complicated by the addict's celebrity, Rush got off with a real bargain.

for all we know all the hookers were of legal age.
