Tancredo's Final Bow: A Fear Provoking Terror Ad

Colorado Rep. and Republican presidential hopeful Tom Tancredo had only $110,000 in the bank at the end of the last reporting period. I think he's ready for his final bow and wants to go out with a bang.

The Denver Post reports on his new ad, which critics aptly call "fear mongering." It features a terrorist attack in a shopping mall.

and Sadaam developed the largest number of sleeper cells in mexico which is a muslim country.  All the undocumented workers are going to rise up and turn the US into a spanish speaking sharia state.

Tancredo alone knows how to stop them and save the world, er I mean the US. What a genius.

And my first thought was "Way to go, jacka$$, play the fear card yet again."

When are the Repugnicans going to stop trying to flog everyone into panicking and blindly voting for them out of fear?

    Hopefully, in 2008.

So, if we do get a bombing like that, and it turns out that it was an Islamist who came across the southern border illegally, what will the left say?

Why is the left all about "the precautionary principle" when it comes to the environment, but not on this issue?

And no, I don't want to see a replay of the 1920's era closing of the doors.  I want to see legal immigration made simpler, and the illegal variety closed made more difficult.

I can't speak for "the left", whatever that is, but I do remember a time when conservative types understood cost-benefit analysis, and didn't wet themselves at the mere thought of The Evil Scary Other.

At least be honest - this isn't about Islamic extremist movie plot terrorism. Just admit it is all about Mexicans, in the South park "they stole our jobs" sense. Seems to be an emerging replacement for, or at least compliment to, the Southern Strategy.

the johnson campaign's 1964 "daisy" ad better. it was almost hitchkockian in it's presentation, with few words, the fear of goldwater getting control of and using nuclear weapons, should he be elected.

tancredo's is grade B horror schlock by comparison.

In other words, just what the doctor ordered for the quarter that sends money to Televangelists with corporate jets and marble toilets.

Tancredo could have that 30% in his pocket he donned  spandex and a cape and staged a steel cage match against the Sheik. But, we shouldnt give his people any ideas.
