The editorial today in the Anchorage Daily News is Abidcation by Palin, criticizing her for allowing John McCain and his operatives speak for her on TrooperGate.

The governor who said, "Hold me accountable," is hiding behind the hired guns of the McCain campaign to avoid accountability. Is it too much to ask that Alaska's governor speak for herself, directly to Alaskans, about her actions as Alaska's governor?

....Is the McCain campaign telling Alaskans that Alaska's governor can't handle her own defense in front of her own Alaska constituents?

Alaskans have to sit back and listen to John McCain's campaign operatives handling inquiries about what Alaska's governor did while governing Alaska. Residents of any state would be offended to see their governor cede such a fundamental, day-to-day governmental responsibility to a partisan politician from another state. It's especially offensive to Alaskans.

As to the McCain operatives' claims that the investigation has become partisan:

That's the kind of dizzying spin that Washington has perfected. It is the McCain-Palin campaign that has worked overtime to politicize the entire matter in a transparent attempt to justify the stonewalling.

The paper calls on Palin to stand up for herself:

Futile as the request may be, we encourage Gov. Palin to stand up to McCain's handlers and be personally accountable for her dministration's response to Troopergate. She is the governor of Alaska, not John McCain or Ed O'Callaghan.

They're stonewalling on e-mail correspondence related to the McCain campaign.

Troopergate is the front to try to access Republican secrets. It's a reverse-Watergate.

"We aren't breaking in for that info -- it's because of the SCANDAL!!! about MONEGAN!!! We demand open access and full disclosure!"

Trooper-gate is a rumor started by Palin-enemy Andrew Halcro that got some legs, went nowhere, and now it could provide an access point into info about the McCain campaign because Palin is the VP.

That is all this is.

The whole thing started back in July, when Palin had nothing to do with the McCain campaign.

And Palin said "Investigate me!"

And nothing happened. There was no pressing reason to push forward, because anyone who's anyone realized it was a "connect-the-dots!" rumor promulgated by Andrew Halcro, put into effect by Palin enemies, and there was nothing to hide.

If it started in July, why all the sudden focus NOW? Does it take that long to "investigate"? No.

Reverse-Watergate. They want Republican secrets out of this front of "openness!"

This started in July. It wasn't resolved before September because it was not necessary.

Trooper-gate is a reverse-Watergate.

Mark it.

Are you saying that Walt Monegan, whose firing precipitated the investigation, was NOT fired?
Nothing says, "I'm INNOCENT!" like dozens of DC lawyers parachuting in, stonewalling the investigation you agreed to cooperate with, and previously cooperative witnesses defying legitimate subpoenas.
Palin is as dirty as the bottom of an outhouse seat.

The deception which John McCain is trying to foist on the American people is crumbling.

This is the first time the executive branch of a state government has literally been handed over to out-of-state political operatives from a political campaign.

And Palin/McCain calls that reform?

It was inevitable that she was going to get called out on this.

They have a new tack today though. They are saying Monegan was a "wife abuser", therefore Palin was justified in doing whatever it is she didnt actually do.

It makes my head hurt.

This is how low the McCain surrogates have fallen to, dredging up allegations from 1994. And allegations which have nothing to do with why he was fired. Clearly, the fact that ABC News dug up the travel voucher authorizing the Washington trip that Palin say was unauthorized took them by surprise.

In a campaign, the handlers do all and everything to control all and anything they can that effects the campaign. So, I'm still looking for what the real deal is here. D's using this as a club over the head? True outrage of abuse of power? Well. I suppose that if my son-in-law, a deputy, threatened my daughter, me, and all my family with physical violence because my daughter was trying to get away from him, then I'd have his a-- fired, too, if I could because I've worked with one too may deputy's who beat the crap out of their wives and use their position of power to keep from being held accountable. So, which abuse of power are liberals so concerned with here? The deputy's? He has the entire Code of Silence and all his deputy brothers; he has access to her wherabouts anytime, anyplace he chooses because he has the means and access to track her, he has the status as a public protector which judges tend to favor.

This man should have been fired. And, if not fired, then placed on suspension until a full investigation could be conducted. But, the man charged with this task chose to ignore the situation and, thus, allow a potentially dangerous and explosive domestic violence scenario to play out. This is very poor judgment. Enough to get the man fired? Maybe, maybe not. Certainly enough to get him officially placed on notice.

I am saddened to see such support by liberals for those who would use threats of physical intimidation and social status to threaten the lives of others. But, then, I'm not in anyway surprised. It was the utter lack of insight and understanding on both the Left and the Right that created the necessity for a "woman's movement" with "women's issues". Rape, domestic violence, child abuse, and the like apparently aren't men's issues. Even the appeal of the D's and R's to women, showing how they will address "women's issues", as though these issues are somehow separate than societies issues. We have a decline in the number of women in the house and senate in both parties. We have Hillary Hating and Palinpalooza. We have democrats lining up to vote for a man who gave Hillary the finger in public. Liberals who laugh at the debasing image of McCain reaming Palin on a desk. Is this really the best the democrats can do? Is this really it?

Just when I think people can't get anymore prejudiced and hateful, I just need to take in a little media. It reflects the status quo, Right and Left.

Perhas you should do some research. After an investigation, Wooten was suspended for five days. It was after Palin became Govenror that she launched a personal vendetta against Wooten to get him fired on old allegations for which he has already been punished.
You should also know that that the only complaints ever lodged against Wooten have been from the Palin-Heath family. Even the Judge in her sister's divorce/custody battle admonished Palin and her family to stop harrassing Wooten by filing false complaints against him and to cease bad mouthing him to his children, citing that it amounted to "child abuse".
In any event, Trooperage is not about Wooten. It's about Palin and Monegan.
