MTV Denies Building Wall Around Berlin Wall Concert Site

Here is MTV's statement denying they put up a wall at the Brandenberg Gate concert today celebrating the fall of the Berlin Wall to block people from viewing U2, one of the performing groups.

MTV placed a temporary security fence around
the site perimeter....Under no circumstances did MTV build a 'wall' of any kind in or around the U2 production site.

We urge everyone to watch the event on MTV Networks around the world from 3:00 pm EST tonight to see for themselves.

I'm not seeing it on any of the many MTV cable networks playing here. The awards show is streaming online here. [More...]

MTV writes:

MTV wants to ensure that the 10,000 music
fans expected to attend tonight's production enjoy a safe and happy
experience.

They played six songs for 30-minutes, including 'One', Magnificent','Sunday, Bloody Sunday','Beautiful Day' with Jay-Z,'Vertigo' and 'Moment Of Surrender.' The AP reports MTV aired only one:

Though U2 performed six songs, only one was being shown on television later Thursday as part of MTV's European Music Awards, according to MTV.

More on the controversy here. So, is MTV airing the Brandenberg concert or just the MTV Europe awards, and when?

Update: MTV streamed U2 and JayZ performing "Sunday Bloody Sunday", with "Stand Up for Your Rights" in the middle. Here's some more photos:

and so rich, I can only sit back and LMAO.

When U2 did their Achtung, Baby! shows in Berlin, didn't they build a wall beind the stage out of those Bondo-bodied Trabant cars the East Germans used to wait years to buy?

Didn't Pink Floyd build a wall and then knock it down for their concerts in Berlin?

When Obama went to Berlin last year, didn't the Germans just put up sawhorses to guide the crowds?

Who died and left MTV as God?

    Correct me if I'm wrong....

the Trabant were light fixtures on the zoo tv tour from 92-93, not a wall.  I was in Berlin for the athletics world championships and there was lots of fencing in that area for the marathon, so is it really a big deal?

If they want a wall, they can have a wall as far as I am concerned.

as heard on NPR, reported as a fact that MTV did erect a "wall," not just a fence, around the U2 concert site at the Brandenburg Gate.

They showed it on the news.  It was a security fence with what appeared to be a white sheet or tarp on it.
