Lindsay Lohan Surrenders to Begin Serving Sentence

Update: The LA Sheriff says Lindsay will be released after 13 or 14 days due to overcrowding and good time.

Lindsay Lohan surrendered at the Beverly Hills courthouse today to begin serving her 90 day jail sentence for probation violations. She was accompanied by her original lawyer, Shawn Chapman Holley. Her parents were there as well.

A clearly upset LiLo sat and listened as Judge Revel ordered Lindsay's surrender. But before Lindsay was cuffed and taken away, the judge ordered all cameras to stop rolling.

Judge Revel made it clear -- no house arrest, and no early release. But that doesn't mean Lindsay will have to serve the full 90 days. The Sheriff's Department will use the 90 days to compute the actual time Lindsay will have to serve, and because of overcrowding, she will only serve 25% ... 23 days. Lindsay didn't cry. When she was cuffed she was stoic.

As to Robert Shapiro:

Sources tell us Lindsay is furious at Shapiro, feeling as if he totally used her to get publicity for his sober living house. She believes that is the only reason he agreed to rep her and sold her a bill of goods.

She'll be transferred to the Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood, CA, where Paris Hilton served her sentence.

    is particularly cruel and unsual...when my old man went to an inpatient rehab facility for alcoholism he planned on trying to quit smoking too, cold turkey across the board...the rehab professionals advised against it, said get sober than work on the smoking...it will make quitting the booze more difficult than it need be.

    If this was really about helping Ms. Lohan kick her addictions to booze and/or pills, we'd let her smoke in the clink.

    non-smoking policy to the idiotic extent now of equating it with crack and heroin in state funded rehab facilities. If you're caught puffing a Marb late at night in the lav, you're automatically out of the program and into the street.

    A friend who just got out of rehab told me that they actually kicked three people out of the program for smoking cigarettes outside an AA meeting (with other non-rehab meeting goers), while they were on a "field trip" outside the facility.

    with no cameras rolling in what must be a very deep and private moment in LL's life.

    Will she get any additional time off for good behavior in addition to overcrowding?

    And, if Shapiro became her attorney and stated he was representing her, conditionally, but, nevertheless, representing her, then why is he not bound as Holley is to continue until LL retains new counsel?

    When I was leaving for work this morning I thought I heard something about a countdown to watch her report to jail.  It seemed uncommonly cruel to me.

    I think she'd appreciate some good mail. She's segregated from other prisoners. I thought of sending her a coloring book and crayons or cutout cardboard dolls with clothes (assuming those are still made) but they probably wouldn't let her have them.
