Overnight Open Thread: Breaking Bad Music

As I said earlier, I turned off the Emmys after the Aaron Paul and Bryan Cranston won for Breaking Bad, my favorite show this year. That made my Emmy night.

I've got jails aplenty to visit tommorrow, so in case I won't be around to put up a morning thread, here's one for you , all topics welcome.

Here's one more:

Again, all topics welcome.

    and first TD pass.

Don't know why Tebow did a fade away back foot jump pass on his TD pass because no one was near him, but it got there.

    Link doesn't link to Tebow. (none / 0) (#4)

Tebow had a bad interception too, that was almost returned for a TD.  However, he should be # 2 QB for sure.  Brady Quinn should have his NFL career euthanized.  He is horrible!

this year, all you one-and-half Bills fans out there..

That is, if he doesn't have some devastating injury, which would be in keeping with Buffalo's karmic pattern..

has retired C.J.'s jersey.  Whoop-ty-doo: My football glory days were with Neyland and (much later) Majors.

(But the local U. did right well with Danny Ford and the Fridge.)

Distribution of stimulus money (none / 0) (#2)
by ruffian on Mon Aug 30, 2010 at 09:50:35 AM EST
On a thread yesterday there was discussion of the amount of the stimulus money that was in tax cuts vs. gov spending. The recovery.gov site has the stats:
    h/t Tapped:
the stimulus included $275 billion of contracts, grants, and loans (the rest was tax cuts and entitlements).

The Tapped post's thrust is on the relatively small amount of fraud and mis-use of the money - something to point to as good government. If only there had been about twice that amount on real stimulus.

but possibly the most adorable thing I've seen in a while.

Also more proof to me that we are related to monkeys.

That is too cute. (none / 0) (#11)

The picture of the monkey standing and holding the kitty is awesome. We're definitely related!

Songs like that, where bad grammar is repeated over and over, just make me want to tear my hair out.

Does Poetry Bother You Too? (none / 0) (#14)
by squeaky on Mon Aug 30, 2010 at 06:43:01 PM EST
imo, it is not the bad grammar, but the bad music and bad poetry..

But then again, some people might have such a firm grip on what is correct, that any deviation, no matter how beautiful or poetic it is will grind against their sensibilities.

Maybe that was the problem with the Philistines...

    No, I teach poetry. (none / 0) (#15)

In this particular song, the repetition of "most loneliest" is unnecessary and does nothing to help the song. Listen to the song again. "The loneliest day of my life" would have worked just as well.

    Oh (none / 0) (#16)
by squeaky on Mon Aug 30, 2010 at 07:14:09 PM EST
OK, it is a bad song, I will take your word for it. Pleonasms and repetition are not in themselves killers for poetry...  or lyrics...

It is how they are used...

"Indirect crook'd" is forceful in Shakespeare; a mere pleonasm in Massinger. "
