I like this OpEd by Sean O'Grady in the UK's Independent on Donald Trump's bizarre speech on the death of al-Baghdadi.

I will just add: From the first line of the Trump's announcement, it was clear he lacks comprehension of even the most fundamental concept of "justice." Donald Trump believes justice is done by the U.S. exercising the full power of its military to bring a single individual who has done bad things to his knees and killing him.

Memo to Drama Queen Donsld Trump: Justice is done when a suspect is captured and brought before a neutral court for trial. As O'Grady writes:

If America and the west believe in universal human rights, as Isis did not, then we could have set a new example to the world, demonstrating our superior, civilised standards. Instead, now the armed jihadists have another martyr.

Indeed the very same vainglorious Donald Trump who took obscene personal credit for his death has put Isis back in business by his withdrawal of American forces from Syria and giving Erdogan the green light to beat the hell out of America’s Kurdish allies. Now hundreds of hardened, trained, ruthless and cruel Isis fighters have been let loose in the region, at liberty to attack US forces and their allies wherever they find them, and to take fresh terror campaigns into Europe.

Donald Trump will be mocked and despised around the world for his ugly analogy comparing al-Baghdadi to a dog.

The world knows Donald Trump is a buffoon -- and a friend to no one but himself. From O'Grady:

Trump never rises to the occasion; the scale of even the most momentous of events will never be permitted to overshadow that vast ego if his.

Depressingly, we also know that Trump will milk the death of Baghdadi for all it is worth, all the way to polling day: A great day for his country, Trump said, though he meant a great day for Trump. The war on terror is not over – let alone won.

When Donald Trump is impeached by the House, or defeated in November, 2020, will he whimper and moan about how unfair he's been treated? Of course he will. I hope when the time comes, major news outlets runs with the headline, "Trump whimpers like a dog as he leaves the White House for the last time".

    The Russian Federation's military said on Sunday that it had "valid doubts" about President Donald Trump's claim that ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi had been killed.

    In a speech from the White House on Sunday, Trump first thanked Russia for its assistance in the raid. According to Trump, Russia had allowed U.S. aircraft into its airspace to conduct the operation.

    But later on Sunday, the Russian military indicated that it was unaware of the raid, according to BBC reporter Steve Rosenberg.

    A spokesperson for the Russian military said there were "valid doubts about the reality & success" of the U.S. operation.

    "We are not aware of any assistance having being given to US Air Force flights into the air space of the Idlib de-escalation zone in this operation," a source in the Russian defense ministry added.

    May seem confusing, but I always, always, follow my dear leader, Donal P Trumpe.  The Russians are to be believed over our own institutions. Putin would not lie, I don't know why he would, as our leader once said.

    just announce the end of al-Baghdadi and discuss the implications for the continuance of the terrorist group he lead or those he inspired.  No, he makes the announcement not as a president, but as if a none-too-bright school boy who is reporting on movie he just enjoyed that "blowed them up, really blowed them up."

    But that said, any pundit-talk about Trump receiving a political bump from the al-Baghdadi raid was immediately squelched last night when the presence of the president and first lady was announced last night at Game 5 of the World Series, and the 41,000-strong crowd at Nationals Park in Washington immediately responded by booing him lustily before spontaneously breaking out in chants of "Lock him up!"

    That spoke volumes about the visceral level of antipathy toward Trump.
