Wolfowitz Responds to Favoritism Charges About His Girlfirend

Neocon Paul Wolfowitz, former Deputy Defense Secretary who is now President of the World Bank, has responded to charges he improperly granted a promotion and raise to his girlfriend. (Background here.)

Too funny is Wonkette's photo of Wolfowitz with holes in his socks "at a mosque in Turkey, where he was meeting with extremists to plan new attacks on America."

    Where's the Imus comment?

    This resembles "1, no-trump" in bridge: she's not blonde & she's alive.

No story here; let's move along.

I haven't read anything so horrible since Obama's wife got that huge raise and promotion..

That was politics. On both sides.

This is politics. On both sides.

Bank employees were generally critical of Mr. Wolfowitz's appointment two years ago, focusing on his role as an architect of the Iraq war. They have also accused him of relying on a small group of advisers brought from the Pentagon.

In an extraordinary statement to staff that did not mention the name of his Libyan-born partner, Shaha Riza, Wolfowitz accepted "full responsibility" over the case but said he had "acted on the advice" of the bank's ethics committee.

    The the anonymous lie:

A senior bank official had earlier told the FT: "After consultation with the then general counsel, the ethics committee of the board approved an external assignment agreement."
but the actual folks who were slimed speak up
Mr Melkert's spokesman challenged this explanation, stating that the members of the committee "were not aware of, nor did they approve, the details of the agreement".

The spokesman for Mr Melkert also took issue with the official's claim that the board had "instructed" Mr Wolfowitz to resolve the issue of what would happen to Ms Riza, who under bank rules could not work for her partner, through an external assignment.

Mr Melkert's spokesman said: "The role of the ethics committee is to advise on issues of integrity, not to mandate."

Meanwhile, Roberto Danino, the bank's then general counsel, told the FT: "I categorically deny that I was involved in any way in the implementation of the ethics committee advice to the president regarding the Shaha Riza matter."

knowing that possibly two women have decided to willingly sleep with Wolfowitz or knowing that he lives in such a fantasyland that he isn't aware of the condition of the socks he puts on his feet every day. Can you imagine how horrible he has got to be in the sack.......he isn't even aware of his feet for Gods sake? Both facts scare me.

I'm just waiting patiently for word from Wolf if it is a go.  For $193,590 he'll get the living daylights spanked out of him by me, followed by time out in the corner.  It isn't like you to have to catch up so much.

of one's own body seems to go hand in hand with being a good lover.  Running around in a suit with your big toes squeezing out of the end of your socks in the middle of a mosque.....if he didn't feel a bit out of sorts or odd does he feel physical and/or emotional sensations at all?  He looks 100% comfy and at home in the pictures.  He just can't be any good at it.....a girl would have to be very well paid just to keep showing up ;)  Paying some attention to your wife's feet can have big payoffs too ya know.
