I'm sure many of you are watching the season premiere of "Lost." I've never seen it, and I'm not sure I'll start, but if you really think I should, let me know in comments. Here's a cheat sheet.

The Denver auditions of "American Idol" are on first, and for sure, I'll be watching them.

The Oscar nominations came out today. Will the increased number of "best picture" films make a difference?

brought on the love actually...but I won't dismiss the possibility of being conditioned this way.

All I know is if loving the garbage in hot dogs, White Castle's and swedish fish is wrong...I don't wanna be right!

I think the idea is that you try as best you can to get away from products controlled by Monsanto, factory farming, etc. and buy as much local, fair trade stuff as you can.

You really would not believe the stuff in this movie...

I am not against eating animals, but I want them to be treated humanely.

I'm not that bad though...I'm not an everyday fast-food man like some of my boys with tires round their guts...and I enjoy cooking for myself, I find it relaxing.

One wonders sometimes how much longer it is before some of these workers themselves become the food source.

I actually haven't seen it yet, even though I've been aware of it. I was happy to see Oprah saw it and had Pollan on her show the other day. And she let her audience know how to get their hands on it ;)

It's appalling how they produce "food". I'm so glad I fired them a few years back. Every time I do some research on "food" for some reason or another, I get all creeped out and angry again. Right now I'm trying to find what I would consider a safe source of infant formula in case for some reason my great nephew might have to drink it.

Is supposedly running way ahead in Illinois promary for Burris Senate seat. He could prove to be a tough candidate to defeat in an anti incumbent election.

Again turnout has been under 30% in Illinois. That's sad. Somehow we have to find a way of engaging more citizens in the political process. I think low turn outs only serve to enable politicians to maintain the status quo.

Between the Blago fiasco and the anti incumbent feelings around, I'm not sure Obama can do much. Kirk doesn't come off to voters as a hard line Republican. One hope is that as he campaigns for Senator, the party will push him to the far right. (He isn't an Alan Keyes!)

But if the Republicans could take TK's seat, all bets are off.

arrested in Haiti been discussed? Those folks from Idaho who were arrested for attempting to kidnap some 33 Haitian children. What's the likelihood the case would be "transferred" to U.S. jurisdiction?

I actually can't bear to watch it. I know all about what's going to be in there, which is precisely why I became a vegetarian 20+ years ago. Not that I'm so morally superior--I'm a sucker for certain kinds of junk food and I don't buy from local/farmer markets as often as I should. (There isn't a Whole Foods near me and I wouldn't shop there if there was; OTOH my local supermarket is a union shop so I'm happy to give them my $$$ instead of their competitors.)
