Afghan soldiers have killed two protesters during a protest of the Terry Jones' planned Quran burning.

The protesters in Logar chanted "Death to America" and burned tires, attacked several shops and set election campaign posters on fire, Amin said.

...In a country where most people have limited access to newspapers, television and the Internet, many Afghans seemed unaware of Jones' decision to call off the Quran burning.

    article points out last year area was considered safe.  This year it has the largest no. of voting places shut down for security reasons.

    in their haste to go on and on about this idolatrous nut and his now-abandoned plans is that these demonstrations are not isolated events.  Rather, there have been protests all across Afghanistan near every sort of US/NATO/ISAF installation, and the only thing I'm surprised by is that more people have not been killed.

    Two died with lots of property damage over a non-event that never happened.  Perhaps we should be helping people to grow thicker skins instead of enabling their hypersensitivities; after all, isn't that the American way?  After all, these rioters have the same sensibilities that led to death threats against a novelist (Salmon Rushdie), the Danish editorial cartoonist, and the cartoonists who write South Park.
