The U.S. today announced the name for the war against ISIS. It's called "Operation Resolve."

The operation name applies retroactively to all U.S. military actions conducted against ISIL in Iraq and Syria since airstrikes against ISIL began Aug. 8 in Iraq, officials said.

The name Inherent Resolve is intended to reflect the unwavering resolve and deep commitment of the U.S. and partner nations in the region and around the globe to eliminate the terrorist group ISIL and the threat they pose to Iraq, the region and the wider international community, Centcom officials explained.

100 U.S. military advisors arrived in Anbar today to train Iraqi forces and tribe members.

ISIS has released a new video of three foreign fighters challenging the U.S. to send ground troops, titled "Wait, We Also Are Waiting." SITE has the transcript and a description. Or, you can watch it here.

And let that be a lesson to any Americans itching to get us in yet another ground war...hop on a plane yo damn self, nobody is stopping you. If Dutch bikers can do it, you can do it.

To go do that kdog. Fighting with the Kurds in this situations means fighting beside some that our State Department classifies terrorists too.

There are activists in the region though helping in other ways. Perhaps you can get onboard with one of those organizations, and then transition :)

if I was looking for a fight against tyranny, I could find one a lot closer to home.

But if others wanna Abraham Lincoln Brigade it up, they can fly to Turkey or something and not let the State Dept. stop them...those on the flipside crossing oceans to fight with ISIS ain't gonna let flight restrictions or the State Dept. stop them.

I get the argument that we are responsible for destabilizing Iraq and are therefore responsible for fighting ISIS, but I don't give it much weight... to me that's just a continuation of a vicious circle. Say we help defeat ISIS and a new destabilization occurs, then we're responsible for that, and the destabilization after that. Gotta cease meddling eventually, may as well start now and let the region determine it's own future. But I guess it's hard to disengage from a region you've been f*cking with since WWII.

That's just basic instinct for me, not political. These horrible men, they hate women, they rape children, they deliberately murdered two lawyers who were women's rights activists because they were women's rights activists. One of the activists they tortured for five days before killing her. Women must kill these bastards or die working to kill these bastards :)

Wouldn't be an easy thing to return home from though.

I cannot tell you how much I rejoice that women handed these Phuckers their a$$e$. Maybe Allah is trying to tell them something.

just took all the politics, and, history out of how got here, and, simply look at it as the humanitarian outrage we're witnessing?

Hypothetically, if you're walking down the street and some older guys are being bullies and putting a beat-down on some younger kids would you just walk on by, not "meddle," and let the youngsters "determine their own future?"

Regardless of all the dumb things we did there in the M.E, and, realizing we can't be there forever, you can just imagine what's going to happen. Just picture the television news programs, thousands of refugees, scared to death, crying and begging for our help. And, while these women, children, and elders are besieging us to help them, those face-covered murderers of ISIS are slaughtering them left and right. And, giving America "the finger' while the innocent's blood pours out.

Do you really think America will stand for that?

We can stand here till the cows come home preaching how we don't belong there, how it's not our fight, how it's "their" problem, but, in the end, in the current 24 hour news cycle, and, all the social media, you just know we can't stay out of it.

Bush didn't make a speech after 911, for like two years, without using some version of American Resolve.

And let's be honest, inherited resolve is exactly what we are doing, sticking around out of duty to a country we forcibly dismantled to the point that terrorist were able to capture sizable lands.

So maybe it's a play on words...
No way, the inherent/inherit likeness was missed by the message crafters.

Guerrilla war is their specialty. IED's, car bombs, suicide bombers are what they're comfortable with. Hiding in the shadows, waiting for our troops to come to them, and then melting back into the general population. They would love it.

The air strikes are doing real damage to them. They don't love them.

I read somewhere Americans are beginning to "warm" up to ground troops in Iraq. That would without a doubt be the stupidest thing we could ever do.
