For the McCain staffers finger-pointing at Palin, for Palin who is now playing the victim and for writers who think criticizing Palin is sexist, this one's for you.

McCain-Palin was a gigantic miscalculation by McCain and a disaster from the get-go. McCain, Palin and their staffers have no one to blame but themselves.

    Just a shout out to my incredible produce suppliers! Not only have they supplied me with wonderful, safe, local, nutritious produce, orchard fruits and poultry this past season . . . they have now offered an extra Thanksgiving/more for the winter share! They gave a list approximating what would be available and a price, along with what it might cost retail. Um, I did the pricing, they  were off on the retail value in my 'hood by more than double. Granted, we don't pay markup, but still! I'll save close to 40 bucks  :) Instead of paying over 70 bucks, just 35, TYVM!

    I was already guesstimating the math during the season as to what I brought home from the CSA as to what it would have cost me. This was the first time I did "reality" math. Folks, look local for your food and buy direct from the source. It's so worth it, in so many ways! Yes, you may pay more than those frozen veggies from China, but you'll also find a decrease in your grocery bill beyond that. Aka, not doing big shoppings and only buying a couple things saves you more than you know  ;) You end up eating what you have, not what you think you may want, what's on sale, what fast (food) etc is easy/quick. And what you can't eat, you freeze/can. Food never tasted so good as direct from the fields. Last plug for the season, lol!~

    Search your zip for local CSAs and farmers markets. Check churches, park depts, community gardens etc for opportunities to join or other resources to find local food in your area. Talk to your grocers about offering local food. And if you plan on joining one next season, sign up early! We sold out much earlier this year as opposed to last. Early is inquiring soon, following up after the holidays and having a deposit in as soon as the farmers accept them  ;)

    I apologize, everything I know about life I learned from Star Trek.  (And that may explain a lot.)

    In the second season episode Obsession, Kirk has to face a weird vampiric cloud that is attracted to blood.  And Kirk takes his frustrations out on Ensign Garrovick , and we find out that like Kirk at the same age, Garrovick hesitated in firing on the cloud.  Years later, Kirk still feels guilty about his hesitation

    ...

    The episode is resolved when we find from Spock that regardless of the hesitation in firing, because of how the creature was immune to various weapons, nothing different would have happened.  Garrovicks hesitation, and Kirks hesitation did not matter one bit.

    ...

    Anyway, here is Larry Sabato saying, for what it's worth, that Palin made no difference.  McCain could have nominated anyone, and he still would have lost.

    Because George is the worst President Ever.

    (However, if they want to form a circular firing squad, I'm all for giving them ammunition.)

    is how I refer to the 2008 GOP ticket.  And really, that was what sank that ticket.  McCain couldn't try to run away from the Bush policies without running away from the GOP base.  Tacking back to Bush policies pushed away more moderate voters.  Once the economy choked, McCain couldn't use the social conservative issues to bring in more voters.  Rally the base, sure, but the non-base were looking at the economy, at Bush, at McCain.  What they were seeing in McCain wasn't someone who could pull the economy out of its dive.

    McCain had been painted into a corner by the Bush/GOP tenure.  He didn't even have a military victory to point to.  Economy in shambles.  Iraq and Afghanistan staggering painfully.  McCain himself had "experience" but no track record.  His own party wasn't even that enthusiastic about him.

    I really do believe that any John Q. Milquetoast who had a solid campaign could have defeated McCain/Bush.  Just appear competent, confident and have no ties to the Bush tenure.

    Yeah, you might run into some of The Youngbloods ("Get Together") out there.  They even had a song called "On Sir Francis Drake."

    I have been the roadie for a San Francisco rock band since 1968.  I've seen Janis naked and smoked a joint with Garcia, gone mountain biking with Bobby Weir.

    It isn't legitimate criticism of Palin that's sexist. It's criticism that refers to her as stupid, or a c**, or a stupid c**.

    But apparently many people can't tell the difference between the two. That is precisely the problem.
