    Appreciate seeing James Earl Jones as former Pres. @ 1960 . Convention, go see Gore Vidal's play "The Best Man.".

    "Best Man" brings the great dialog of Gore Vidal along with his insights into political machinations then and now.  Indeed, I would disregard those negative reviews (e.g. NYT) that really boil down to being "dated".  True, the party conventions are not of the same importance, but that venue for story-telling took nothing away from its underlying currency.

    Candice Bergen gave a sterling performance (she indicated that she might have trouble with her lines, owing to a previously undisclosed stroke), and Eric McCormack (of Will and Grace) did a fine job in portraying his character with the externals of John Edwards and the internals of Rick Santorum.  Angela Landsbury and James Earl Jones alone, are worth the price of admission--which is a lot.

    "Battleship": Sinks Under Its Own Weight - "Before anyone gets all high and mighty about films based on board games (planned for 2013: Adam Sandler's "Candy Land"), let us recall that "Clue" really wasn't that bad. Bits of it were even good - especially when Madeline Kahn described the flames of hatred engulfing her head. Sadly, Kahn is nowhere to be found in "Battleship," a humongous alien-invasion flick based on the plastic-pegged Hasbro naval guessing game. It's loud, it's large, it's stupid, and its best gag involves a chicken burrito. It features Taylor Kitsch wearing many more clothes, and maybe one more facial expression, than he did in 'John Carter.'"

    And to think that the State of Hawaii gave the producers millions of dollars in tax credits for producing this Crock O'Schitt, which allows the lamentably-named Taylor Kitsch the opportunity to once again live up to his monicker.

    This egregious waste of celluloid should be an embarrassment for all concerned. Honolulu would've fared far better had Taylor, Liam Neeson & Co. allowed our fair city to be conquered by the space aliens.

    That's what these movies are, and they'll keep makin' em, as long as people keep ponying up for tickets..

    Went to the Avengers last week, completely sold out all weekend.  It was good but not that good.  Went to Dark Shadows today.  The boys endured it for me because I used to fight my mom to watch Dark Shadows when I was five.  She gave in to my tantrums but told me that the nightmares were my responsibility and I had them forever :)

    It was cute, a bit too much cheese in places, but cute.  I'll be seeing Battleship probably at the drive-in.  I will endure it for Josh.

    I was for Bayern. And then even more so as the Fox Sports announcers kept saying, "something's happening" in a hopeful way when Chelsea did something good. The announcer's were SO biased for Chelsea that it made me want Bayern to win even more. Oh well.
